Overview

The information technology landscape is about to be transformed by a powerful new concept in application architecture. This new approach to building business solutions is called "Software as a Service" (or simply "Web Services"). Workstation Hardware and Software Requirements

During the boot camp we will be using Visual Studio .NET (gold release). This section will detail the minimal requirements you will need to install and use Visual Studio .NET. If your computer does not meet these requirements, or if you are unsure how to verify these requirements, please contact your system administrator as soon as possible.

Requirements:

  • Operating System: Microsoft Windows Professional (or better) - Must have IIS or PWS installed. The users will need "administrator" access rights on their workstations. Microsoft Windows SP2 should be installed.
  • Development Software (required): Visual Studio .NET (Professional Edition or above) - Must be the "gold" version (no betas or RC's). Must have installed VB.NET & C#.NET. Must have SQL Server Data Engine (MSDE 2000 - this comes with VS.NET) or SQL Server 2000 (Developers Edition or above) installed.
  • Development Software (optional): Visual Studio v6.0 (Professional or Enterprise Edition)
  • Processor: Pentium III (500 MHz or better)
  • RAM: 128 MB (196MB or better is preferred)
  • Free Disk Space: 2GB (this is what VS.NET will require - if VS.NET is already installed then only 25MB of free space is needed for the boot camp labs)
